Picked this up at KCBC back in March and finally got around to it tonight. Not sure how this should be categorized on here, but there was enough going on here that this did indeed like an American Wild Ale! Light on the alcohol but heavy on the funk, this had a lot going for it including an addicting taste and easygoing nature to it, in spite of the funk!
Like anything else that I've had from KCBC, the label art to this had that 50's comic book-feel to it and immediate drew me in. Any superficiality from that was forgotten about once I poured this out and got a look at the softy radiant raisin hue that this had, as a bit of light seeped in around the edges. Funky sourness, tart raspberries, and wood-like wine aging came out a bit in the nose and was much stronger in the taste. Juicy, aged, and tart, this had quite the array of notes as the lively carbonation kept things from getting too heavy. There was a bit of sediment here but it was minor compared to how anomalous this beer was - from start to finish.
Not a lot of booze here, which was a good thing! The acetate-like mouthfeel and berry slickness that coated my mouth once this went down was what stood out to me as the wine barrels made this beer feel that it came from the old country. This was fun stuff that wasn't like anything I had before or since and even with the swiftly-receding head and lack of lacing, still had a ton to offer. Worth a go for anyone who loves funky, fruit beers that are aged and unusual as a result!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
