Copenhagen 3/12 2022. 37,5 cl heavy glass bottle doom Kihoskh, Sønder Boulevard, Kbh. V. Drawing of a guy which skin is unravelling revealing him to be a giant Cherry. A bit unnerving.
Pours opaque, murky, dark brown with a mid-sized white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin patch of foam floating in the middle of the glass. Clinging to the sides of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet fruity odor mingling with a prominent sour scent of unripe fruit. Sweet cherry and alcohol. Tart green applesand gooseberries.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong, tart sourness. Aftertaste is tart and a bit austere. Lingers for a whine. Finish is bone-dry.
A tart take on a Ord Bruin.

16oz. bottle into Night Shift stemware. Shared by schen9303.
Nose is tart and sweet cherry and vinegar. Sharp and really tickles the nose. Opens intensely tart cherry. Hints of vinegar and wood with big acidity. Some clove and dark sugars in there too. Sourness is over-the-top the whole way through. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively in the mouth and goes down aggressive and puckering.
A touch one-dimensional... especially for a dubbel. Supremely sour so if you like that type of thing, this is worth trying.

Sample at beer meets wood last weekend.
Lightly hazy light brown, thin short lived bubbly off white head. This one struggles to identify itself. The dubbel is lost under the earthy funky tartness from the mixed fermentation and the cherries barely show themselves. Not horrible but not for me either.

Picked this up a couple of a weeks back as this was released with other beers as part of KCBC's first anniversary. I love what I've had from them so far and although this certainly wasn't bad, it didn't break any new ground for me or stand out in any memorable way. Those looking for a Dubbel that resembled a Lambic will not be disappointed here and the alcohol was so well-hidden that the appealing but slightly odd taste was able to stand out that much more, because of the diminished role of the booze.
Not a bad pour to this as the mahogany-hued liquid came out quite clear with a mild, subdued radiance to it. The salmon head came and went very quickly as it sounded like retreating sea foam upon pouring the liquid out. Tons of tart cheery, acetate, vinegar, and red wine in the subdued nose with the wood barrel-aging coming out more in the taste. Slick, lively, and nuanced, there was a lot to figure out here as the yeast seemed to be lactobaccilus, given this a bit of a feel like a Wild Ale. Not heavy or sticky, the carbonation was light enough to keep anything from lingering too long although this was so light as to not leave behind any lacing on the side of my pint glass.
No warming effect or taste of alcohol could be detected here as the intriguing range of flavors were allowed to linger throughout my session. Not terribly tart, this was more Belgian yeast-inspired than I expected and had the fruit dialed back just enough. Just like the label, this was weird but in a good way! Wonderful for a mild night such as this...
