The latest in our single hop/single malt IPA series. English floor malted Halcyon barley and tropical fruit bombalicious Citra hops load it up with juicy flavor, but keep it light on bitterness and body.

Picked this up the first time it was released, finally getting around to review this tonight. Most of what I've had from KCBC's been great, from the can art to the beer itself, and this was no exception. Balanced, mild, and smooth, this wasn't terribly flashy but had so much going for it that I didn't even notice as it was just a solidly craft beer that featured both hops prominently with a minimal amount of sediment in the liquid and at the bottom of my pint glass...

Not a bad pour to this as the beer was golden, somewhat opaque, and topped off with plenty of head. Not as much lacing to be seen as I worked my way through this as there were hints of rings around the back side of my pint glass. The aroma was subdued as well with hints of lime, orange, pineapple, and tropical hops present. Citrus pith, lime rind, and faint hop bitterness combined with the Halcyon barley to give a result that was fitting of that particular hop. A wonderful juicy slickness and recessed malt rounded things out as the moderate carbonation was on par with those attributes.

As unoffensive as those were, the alcohol in this was also on that level. Just enough to give me a slight buzz, it was undetectable and in the background behind the mild and moderate array of flavors that I could pick out. Canned on 3/28 of last year, this held up well and had me wishing to try all of them in this series, which I think is a great idea both in name and in variety. Another brew that further proves how under-the-radar these guys are!

A: The beer is cloudy yellow in color. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving only a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of tropical fruits are present in the nose—pineapple seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has moderately strong flavors of pineapples along with strong notes of orange citrus. The hops also contribute a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. Only a faint amount of crispness is detectable.
O: This beer has pleasant flavors of tropical and citrusy hops.
