From the can, it pours a very hazy yellow color. A modest head quickly dissipates.
The nose opens with soft tropical and stone fruit character, with notes of mango and peach. The aroma becomes increasingly citrusy and herbal with pithy notes of orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime and dank notes of pine and grass. It provides a zesty and resiny nite, until over time it smooths out and some of the fruity and floral sweetness takes over.
The taste opens very hops forward, with a grassy, peppery and citrusy bite. It quickly pushes the dry and neutral cracker malt to the background. There are pithy flavors of lime, lemon and unripe orange tangerine and grapefruit. This is accompanied by herbal hops notes that are more spicy than bitter, with notes of pineapple resin and grass. It contributes to a crisp mouthfeel that is accompanied by a moderate carbonation and medium body. All throughout, the dry finish provides a crisp and herbal hops burn. However, things begin to smooth out as some of the softness from the oats develops along with tropical and stone fruity sweetness, including flavors of mango, pineapple, and peach.
Overall, a solid IPA with a nice strong hops kick and refreshing dryness. Another fine offering from KCBC.
