Now in the age of hazies and wheat infused IPAs, this is a beautiful sight. The pint can has been emptied into a clear Imperial pint glass and it's perfect. The head is light khaki and it rests on top of a copper/bronze amber liquid. Mercifully, there's no billowing foamy white starchy mess to deal with. The brew is opaque without being murky. There's an earthiness to the combined aromas of malt and hops that's very pleasant. The taste is earthy, but just a little out of whack to the malty side, for an IPA. But, considering all the wheat fluffed "IPA"s out there now, this is a welcomed shortcoming. More malty than hoppy, but with just enough hop character, this goes down rather smoothly and without a trace of the 8% ABV. No glass lacing is the only deduction for the rating for its looks. Apparently not readily available, this is recommended to all that like an IPA, in this case an IIPA, that retains barley malt as a backbone.
