A sour beer King County Brewer Collective. Reading the ingredients, it sounds like a fruit smoothie, rather than a beer. The artwork on the label is amazing. The beer is 42 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour of the beer created a beautiful two-fingered pink head. The retention of the head is above average. Not much lacing was left on the glass after it dissipated The color is a muddy red. Overall a lovely appearance for this sour.
The first blast of aromas that hit my nose were berries, lemons, and vanilla. Next, I smell a fruity sweetness, wheat, and cereal grains. The berries are akin to cherries and strawberries.
The lemon flavors come on strong followed by strawberries, and cherries. The sugar in the beer is minimal. The wheat and cereal grains are lost in the sourness. The vanilla I initially smell is faint and I taste some lactose now.
The mouthfeel of the beer is tart, sour, and carbonated.
The body of the beer is medium-light, medium-plus carbonation, and medium finish.
The beer has a sharp sourness, yet the additional flavors did little to enhance the profile. I am searching for the other flavors, at times I do find traces of them. The beer is dominated by sourness. The additional flavors do not add to the overall character of the beer.
