The last beer I have from KCBC, this one is a gose. The beer is 44 degrees and served in a pilsner glass. The pour of the beer created a fizzy and foamy two-fingered head. The pinkish head can and went like summer in Idaho. The quick dissipation did not leave any lacing on the glass and no visible signs of a head exist. The beer has a dark pinkish salmon color. The beer is cloudy with no clarity.
The initial whiff of the beer I smelled cereal grains, cherries, and limes. Nosing further I detect sea air, passion fruit, and a subtle malty sweetness. Every so often, I do pick up a fruity sweetness followed by the tartness from the cherries. The aromas of the beer are typical for this style nothing stands out.
Tart cherries smack your palate hard followed by passion fruit and limes. Salt airy with a subtle lightly toasted bread settles the tartness down. The finishes are salty then, sour, and final a smidge of sweetness.
The mouthfeel of the beer is tart and puckering.
The body of the beer is light, high carbonation, and a medium-plus finish.
The beer at times is mouth-puckering and then the flavors come in later. I think the beer is sourer than the Gose style. Good beer but I want the mouth pucker toned down a bit for my taste.
