Reviewed from notes. Thanks to Drew for sending this one! Poured from a 500 mL bottle into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Pours a medium gold - this is darker than I expected given the name. A two-finger foamy white head lasts for a good bit, but finally gives way to a ring of foam. A good amount of visible carbonation.

S: Pretty nice – hops (citrus, tropical fruits, light dank, resin) and light cracker malts. On the nose, it's like a pretty standard lightly malted IPA – or maybe like an IPL. Nothing to make me think “rice” particularly.

T: Citrus, mango and guava, and tangelo fruity hops. Light cracker malts that show up and disappear just as quickly. Dank and milder stone fruit hops. The clean malt bill and full attenuation remind me of an IPL as well. A significant citrus pith and tropical fruit bitterness in the hang.

M: Light crisp body, good carbonation sensation, and the alcohol presence is well-integrated.

O: A bit different, and quite tasty. An IPL would still be the closest I could compare to, and that’s still not right. But good hop flavors, a definite hop bitterness and a clean malt bill. I’m not sure where the rice fits in – it’s definitely a bit of an unusual tasting IPA, but there’s no overt “rice” flavor here either. Still, very enjoyable and a different beer existing within a well-defined and heavily trodden style.

Rice IPA in can 2017 6.8% ABV 75IBU poured in a tulip
Admittedly - I'm not a big IPA fan and I've never had a rice IPA - but I was intrigued

Pours a lovely, cloudy ambers with a fB of off white foam and fair amount of retention. Smell is floral with tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, hints of pine and toasted biscuity malts.
The taste is sweet malts forward, biscuit, tropical fruits (again), barest hint of pine resin, a bit of leather and fresh cut lawn with a transition to a rather smooth transition to the more hoppy, resinous mid notes. No bitterness at all. Smooth transition and clean finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a pleasing effervescence and an astringent, clean finish that serves as the perfect palate cleanser.
I was rather surprised by how much I enjoyed this ipa - and I look forward to trying their other offerings.

Appearance - Pours clear golden color with super thick foamy white head that lasts forever. Excellent lacing covers the inside of the glass with rings of foam.

Aroma - The first thing I notice is the sweet smell, there are hints of pineapple and mango nice hop aroma as well. It has a nice biscuit smell mixed in there as well.

Taste - Based on the aroma I was expecting a bigger hop flavor but it was not there not much bitterness either. There is a good hop flavor mixed with sweet mango, there is a mild alcohol taste but you would not think this is an 8.2% beer. This is just a solid tasting Imperial IPA.

Feel - Medium body, dry finish no where near the bitterness I was expecting very mild.

Overall - I am really impressed with this beer, great flavors and dangerously drinkable.

Pours hazy golden with 1/2 inch of white foam with lots of persistent lace.

Little bit of booze and tropical pineapple / mango yummy citrus bits. Huge nose, one of the best characteristics of the beer.

Super dry but with enough booze to mitigate the dryness, medium bittering and clear notes of nugget and summit coming through. Incredible. Tastes like Heady yeast doing work in this one.

Mouthfeel is as expected.

A delicious beer. I come away thinking this is a mix between DRIPA and Heady. Unique and yummy.
