pours a coffee body with an excited billowing foamy and frothy tan foam head with high retention and leaves ropey patches of sudsy lacing behind as it settles to a defined halo
smells of sweet honey roasted chocolate-tinged caramel malt and a solid earth bitter hop
taste follows the nose with a honey sweet chocolate caramel malts with shades of dark stone fruit, and a strong earthy hop bitterness kicker. coffee-like characteristics shine through quite a bit for a porter not adverting such a lead.
moderately high carbonation, medium body that flows slightly watery-smooth with occasional carbo prickles and finishes earthly bitter and dry, sticking around on the roof, tongue, and behind the lower lip
overall:
this brew is slightly inconsistent; I've had it about a dozen times as sixers and/or bombers and I would rate those experiences from a solid 4.5 on the first try back in late 2019 to a soft 4-on-the-floor for this last batch I got. HOWEVER...don't get it twisted - this is a solid brew every single one of those dozen sixers, not a single let down among 'em. this last sixer had a staunch but interesting coffee vibe running on it; the very first bomber I had threw a vibrant honeyed sweetness with smooth chocolate & caramel that had a beneficial hop bitterness punch at the end.
this is a small local operation, and we're lucky to have them here. keep at it, fellas. I always smile to see these out in the wild.

Had this from a keg at a beer festival this weekend. Sorry, just a boing beer. No head or lacing. Dark brown, sort of purple-ish. Decent chocolate smell and taste. Hint of berries. Maybe had a bad batch?
