On tap at St. Jac’s, Finn Hall (Houston, TX; 14-Dec-18), served in a tulip glass. Deep, dark brown with an eager head of tan foam and streaky lace. Aromas of roasted malt, cocoa and dark coffee. More roasted notes in the flavor, but nicely balanced by spicy rye and earthy hops. Medium to full body and light to medium carbonation. A tasty, drinkable stout - made more so by the balancing rye spice and dryness.

A: Pours a near opaque black color. A two finger dark beige head, not exactly tan, but close. Good retention and plenty of lace left behind as well.
S: Some roasted malts, light coffee, but the big bready rye comes through really well. Lightly spicy with some herbal hops in the finish. Really enjoyable.
T: Like the nose, just enjoyable. Some roast, some coffee, more toasted malts with a great baked bread flavor. Lightly spicy with some earthy hops noticeable. Yep, I like this.
M/O: A medium to full body. Crisp carbonation and smooth at the same time. This does not drink anywhere close to 8%. Something I can come back to easily, and have since this has been popping up around town.
A really good Rye Stout. With a lot of that baked bread character. Probably my favorite from Eureka Heights, and I feel they have been dialing in better than when I first had them. Recommended for sure.
