June 24th, 2016 - A solid, but not mind blowing stout, the Beaufort Stout smells and tastes like one of those darker styles that brewers make to fill out their menu and roster. That's fine, and actually something a little uncommon in San Diego. Why dedicate a tap handle to a stout when you can increase sales with another variety of IPA? But I'm glad the Beaufort is running. A have malt note, nice richness and a deep, dark aroma, it checks all the boxes for an appealing stout. The flavor is also smooth, alongside the palate, with a short burst of cocoa before the aftertaste disappears. Although on the lighter side it is good, with lots of flavor and drinkability.
