We took our Death Before Dying Imperial Stout and aged it in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for over a year. Then we dosed it with an obscene amount of desiccated, shredded, and toasted coconut, two giant handfuls of grade A Madagascar vanilla beans, and some choice Unicorn Blood espresso beans from our friends at Dark Matter Coffee resulting in the most decadent, luxuriously silky, rich, fudgy, dark chocolate covered coconut flavored liquid of your dreams.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich and sweet coconut, bitter roasted coffee, dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, bourbon, and rich melted dark chocolate.
This is really quite good. It's an adjunct explosion, that's for sure - but, there's a really great barrel character that helps balance everything out nicely. The barrel provides burnt caramel, char, oak, bourbon, and spice, and that helps temper the big coconut notes. The coffee also does a nice job, adding vanilla, cookie dough, dark chocolate, and dried dark fruit.
This is medium bodied, creamy, rich, and very approachable, with very little booziness overall.
I've always been semi-interested in this series of beers, but had never pulled the trigger on it. I'm glad someone brought a bottle to a share, because this was definitely impressive.
