North Park Beer Co. has the reputation for quality stouts, and I’ve personally enjoyed a couple. However, this is a bit of a mess. Made with pistachios, coconut, vanilla and coffee, they are all fighting for supremacy and losing. Even at a variety of temperatures, it’s boozy, sweet and confused. It’s like filling your cup with all the different sodas at a fast food restaurant. You can’t pick out the Coke, the root beer and the Dr. Pepper as individual flavors. It just mixes to create some weird blend of flavors. It has too much fat to maintain a head, and feels slippery and oily on the palate. I drank 5 oz, and that was it. Ouch. Swing and a miss.
