Saisons are a favorite year-round style of ours here at Upper Pass, and we’re always ready to put a new twist on an old favorite. This time around we took one of our staple saison recipes and gave it a large addition of spelt which brings a uniquely sweet and nutty characteristic to the beer. Additionally, we bumped up the abv to 6.2% which brings a full flavor and warming feel, perfect for these warm days and cool late-summer nights. Foreign Objects utilizes an expressive farmhouse saison yeast which provides a classic belgian saison profile with peppery clove and spice aromatics.

Can. Golden orange clear with lasting small head and lace. Very fruity aroma orange candy with light pepper and grass and floral. Very sweet and and very fruity with slightly incongruous herbal finish. Medium body slick with fairly low fine carbo. Kind of a mess. I prefer Little Farmhouse.

I tried this beer a couple weeks ago after seeing it at Stowe Beverage. I have become obsessed with it. I love spelt as a baker and it matches harmoniously with this beer. It is smooth and low IBU at 18. I'm personally not a fan of IPAs, an outsider in Vermont and despite it being a saison it has nutty notes I really enjoyed.
