Chardonnay barrel farmhouse ale. Chardonnay character and the soft oakiness from the barrels really shines here. Plenty of white wine brightness and fruit - pear, apricot, lemon. Woody toasted oak. Pretty basic farmhouse beer inside the barrel it seems - mildly spicy yeast notes - pepper and coriander, smooth Pilsner-type base, minimal floral hoppiness. Just enough hop bitters and body to keep the oak from seeming astringent. Very nice showcase of the Chardonnay barrel yet still a saison at heart. Some snappier carbonation would be nice.
