Khaki head. Clear golden color.
A lot of apple flavor here. Red apples and green apple skins. Some tartness. A bit sour. Can’t really taste a lot of rye but there is some spice showing. I thought I’d hate this beer, but it wasn’t bad.

On tap at The Answer.
Pours a clear amber with fine, wispy foam.
Smell is slightly tart and floral with notes of citrus, rye and a little bit of yeast.
Taste is malty and again just a little bit tart. Rye, spices and elderflower comes next, before hints of pumpernickel and sunflower seeds. Very crisp and refreshing.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a nice beer. This is my first kvass, so I have no idea how true it is to style, but it's nice and refreshing.

I actually really liked this kvass. Has the standard up front yeastiness with the rye bread, then gives way to kosher salt, herbs, yeast and golden malts, followed then by sour oak, golden raisin, and lemon zest. Easy drinking and crisp with a touch of sour acidity, so new world but fun. Nice work
Having tried more kvass I have to bump this score up, might be the best of the style I have had!

Pours a murky golden-orange with two and half fingers of khaki foam. Aroma is honey, melon dew, bread, and toast. Flavor profile is melon dew and bread with an underlying, light bready sourness. Mouth feel is slightly effervescent with a medium-thickness. Overall, a solid kvass, which is very light, easy to drink, and refreshing.

*FIRST KVASS TICK, YEE HAW*
Somehow it pours a little lighter than I anticipated (though it still has a nice, murky copper color). The aroma reveals plenty of rye bread, along with a wisp of wild yeast. Caraway seed also shows up, helping to create a "rustic" quality when combined with the funkier notes. Initial flavors of sweet rye bread hit the palate, with hints of caraway seed intermingling. It finishes with a gentle tartness, some funk, and more rye bread. Notes of caraway seed seem to help amplify the rye flavor even more vividly - in many ways, it really does drink like a liquid loaf of rye bread, but with an additional rusticity to it. Typical for a rye beer, it feels coarse, tingly, and angular in texture, yet extremely crisp. This doesn't rely on overt carbonation, rather it's just naturally dry as can be. This didn't drop my panties, but I also it's something every beer drinker should try once. The focus here is on rye bread with a hint of sourness instead of the other way around. I'd gladly drink it again.
3.54/5: An easygoing sour rye beer (kvass) that's complex yet accessible

A: Pours a slightly hazy medium amber in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate burnt orange + medium golden yellow + copper colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy off-white head that reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of rye bread + caraway seeds with a hint of spiciness from the rye and minmal amounts of sweetness. Very light notes of lemon citrus tartness.
T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of rye bready malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of caraway seeds and a light amount of rye spiciness. very light flavors of lemon citrus tartness which linger slightly in the finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of acidic prickliness.
O: Enjoyable and complex with well hidden alcohol. Not as tart as some of the other craft kvass offerings and a little more rye bread presence. Very well done.
