A - Served a brownish-red color with a finger of frothy tan head. the head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some good lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet dark fruit with some cherry and some roasted caramel malts. There is a bit of Belgian yeast and a touch of spice as well.
T - Starts off with some sweet dark fruit flavor with some lightly roasted caramel malts. Through the middle, some Belgian yeast comes through with some cherry flavor. The finish is a mix fo roasted caramel with some dark fruit sweetness and some yeast esters.
M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet, dry, and roasted finish.
D - Very drinkable. Overall a bit mild and could have used a bit more kick in the taste and nose, but the balance is nice.

On-tap at Magnolia
Pours a dark brown color with a finger of off-white head. Spice aromas are prevalent, especially anise. Nice toast and roast notes, a bit of burnt sugar, too. Somewhat sweet, some bitter dark chocolate, and a bit more anise. A little bread and toast, too. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Actually the best beer of the day at Magnolia.

While I agree with Rastaman, I think the review is a little harsh. The beer is definitely not completely to style. It tasted as if their yeast was either really weak/tired or just off. On the positive side, it tasted like a watered down dubbel, but if you could get over that and just treat it as a tasty beer, it was totally enjoyable. Malt was dominant with little to no hops present as one would expect. Mouthfeel was a little too light for the style.

Tap@Magnolia Pub and brewery- pretty bad go at a Belgian Dubbel. Belgian yeastyness is there, but its pretty thin and sweet, extracty, tasted half finished. A little too sticky and sweet, and hard to drink, i think this brewery does a better job with its English/US style ales.
