Dark brown with light purple highlights for the body of the brew and a fat white cream head, nice juxtaposition of colors in the tulip. Wide musky presence in the nose of fruity plums and prunes. Thick. Light smokiness.
Taste is rhubarb, prunes and figs -- tastes I discover I don't dislike in beer from time to time. I was told prunes were used in the brewing. Salty-nuttiness and a mild sour bite reminded me of the Duchesse a bit. Full and round body, small sweetness of fruit in the mouth and a sweet bodiful finish. Very much drinkable.

On tap at Magnolia's.
Listed as an English Strong Ale, not an American.
Aged in Wild Turkey casks that previously held Imperial Stout since Febrewary. Dates were added to a portion of the batch, then blended back into the mother batch. That's what I'm talkin' about!
Served up hazy burgundy with crimson edging, and mild carbonation.
Complex in the nose.
Similiar to an Old Ale. Lots of vineous qualities.
Dried up malt, english hops, alcohol, cherries, and bits of bitter chocolate.
Nose finishes meaty, with figs and subdued whisky. Oak character hidden.
Syrupy and big on the pallet.
Aggressive and young.
Slick malts with oranges, fig juice, dried cherries, and warming whiskey. Hints of apples, apricots, and cranberry.
Bitterness submissive with hop flavors nodding to the Brits.
Finishes sweet and a bit stickey. Layers step forward as it's chewed.
Very good beer now, aged in a bottle for a year or 10 would put this beauty over the top.

This arrived as a very dark shade of red with no head. Lace is minimal.
Dark fruit flavors prevail. The smell is very appealing, with alcohol present but not overpowering. The taste is not complex or layered, but the flavor that comes through is good. Like in the smell, alcohol comes through but in a balanced way. The mouthfeel is solid and it's easy to drink for its content.
