On cask at Magnolia on 7/12/09.
A - Dark walnut brown body with slight deep ruby highlights and flimsy, bubbly tan head that receded to a thin, bubbly ring until it eventually disappeared, leaving no lacing.
S - Mmmm... chocolate and roasted malt with a hint of coffee and licorice. Slight leafy hops in the back impart an earthy character.
T - Very chocolatey flavor with subtle roasted malt and coffee notes with a touch of earthy bitterness. Chocolate possesses a somewhat bitter character.
M - Medium body with a really soft and smooth, albeit very thin, mouthfeel overall. A bit thin and watery, though.
D - Really nice porter with a chocolate flair. Good first impression for Magnolia.
