6.1% ABC batch.
Murky orange brown. Nice head medium carbonation.
Smells intently garlicy citrus hops.lots of malt in this brew.touch of of toffee and citrus,
Flavor is a bit muted compared to the smell.
Not as hop forward as expected, more malt focus. Lots of bready sweet notes, finishes peppery and nice bite from the hops. Sticky on the palate and lingering.
This is a good (notgreat) Ipa. I enjoyed the beer but would not have more than 1.

I believe that the ABV is at about 6.4 now (the last person to review this did so in '09). It was super-packed inside the place so I got a growler to go.
Pours a nice deep orange with a thick two inch head. The head lasts for an impressive amount of time and ends up as a large island of lace behind.
Grass and grain dominate the smell.
The taste isn't a typical west coast IPA, but it hits all the elements of a pretty good brew. Pale malts to start, lemon rind, fresh cut grass, slight sweetness and a touch of pepper to finish. It's all on the more mellow side though.
The mouth is a tad thin, but smooth going down. I've had two pints and I'm good for now. Mmm, so much left for tomorrow.

On tap at Magnolia on 7/12/09.
A - Clear amber/orange body with slim off-white head that receded to a thin ring of retention and left spotty lace around the glass.
S - Very malt-forward aroma with some buttery notes and plenty of caramel and toasted grains. There is also a touch of herbal hops in there.
T - Hop profile is a little muttled, with some herbal and undiscernable citric notes. Again, flavor is malt forward for an IPA with a prevalent grainy finish and bready notes.
M - Medium bodied with a slick, oily texture and minimal carbonation. Subtle hop bite in the finish with some residual sweetness.
D - Pretty run-of-the-mill IPA overall. A bit too malt forward for me overall and not enough of a hop aroma.
