Very dark brown beer with a decent off white head. Nose offers floral hops and a bunch of malty sweetness. I get mollasses and caramel, plus some deep rasin like notes. This is a really decent tasting brew, again raisin and malt are in the forefront, but it's followed up by some decent floral hopppyness. Low to medium carbonation, and a long finish that ends a bit thin.

Got my lexicon on with this one on 5/9/2006. 16-oz. pint in a shaker glass at Redbones; the corn bread was flying pell-mell on the bartop.

Very thin skim of silk screen film on top with some gentle, puckered lacing on the way down. Mahogany hue with medium clarity. Just a bit of haziness in there with some slow, almost zombie-like action bubbling about randomly. Bits of buttery oak chips on the nose with a touch of vanilla to the caramel, light sweetness. Sugar is the first thing that hits the taste buds, followed by a great mix of butterscotch, smoked wood chips, golden raisins, and some mouth-puckering lime. Still, not bitter or necessarily acidic.

Quality brew, quality, and makes me want to make the trip up 89 even more.

Enjoyed on tap at Redbones today...
Arrived a dark mahogany in color with just a skimming of off-white head...some thin lacing forms, but does not last very long.
Gentle scents of sweet fig, caramel malt, candied fruits and floral hops.
The taste is where this one really shines...a masterful concoction with mild molasses, more fig, malt sweetness, brown sugar and a finishing hop bitterness to clean up the backend.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, perhaps a touch thin for the style, but everything else about the offering nails it on the head.
Carbonation is real nice with no hint of alcohol until the last swig.
I could enjoy this one all evening and would never tire.
Get it while it lasts...which won't be for long.
Gotta get back up there real soon...even better enjoyed at the source, but I sure do appreciate them bringing a few offerings down.

On tap at the Alchemist.

Served a slightly cloudy deep hued brownish with a nice full off-white headskie. Quite the spicey with some sweetness and a bunch of that belgian yeasty fruity zest. Tastes quite complex, perhaps too complex? This one's potent too! Good mouthfeel. A solidly crafted beer.
