Moderately clear amber, big fluffy 2” head with excellent and very good lacing. Nose house yeast, grassy hop, biscuity Zweibeck sweetness. Taste rye cracker, light sweet malt, touch of bitterness on finish. Chris with rounded small carb. Very balanced and highly refreshing.

Was really looking forward to this. Just goes to show that a "harvest ale" can be all over the place and as all styles up to the brewers interpretation. However, this was not my favorite. This one has a crazy murky brownish red color. Toasted, malty, sweetness. Glad focal banger is more readily available as it is truly world class.

16oz can from the brewery. Sample was decanted with care ... as with most of their beers if you leave the dregs in the can when pouring then you probably wouldn't be crying about who the beer looks and give it a lower score because of that. Made with Vermont malt toasted similar to Munich Malt and hopped with Merkur hops. So obviously not to be compared to their "hoppy" beers ... does not take that long to look up the brewers intention for this beer and understand this is something completely different.
Pours and dark reddish amber that shows some haze, head retention is amazing ... all tiny bubbled and creamy. Big toasted malt aroma with some earthiness from the hops and yeast ... mild citrus twang from the hops as well. Bit of a malt bomb with layers of bread, crust, dried hay, toast, grapenuts, & leather. Spicy herbal hop tone goes earthy and citrusy. Very well balanced with letting the malt take the lead by a small margin.
Very enjoyable and fitting for the season.
