Off the tap this AIPA was a mahogany color with a two-finger head of slightly lavender head as though it were a lambic. Nifty! The retention was great because the head soon became a rocky cap and the lacing was also quite nice. The aroma was soft for the 7.8%, earthy and musty with a raw grain quality to it. The flavors were of rye and straw, leafy hops, with elements of sweetness beneath a blanket of citrus. Odd, challenging and unique yet still balanced, like a Rye Beer gone mad. Was it really an American IPA? The mouthfeel was smooth and the carbonation precise so I found it quaffable, the body was medium. You may not love it, but you have to try it.

"American IPA brewed entirely with Nugget hopa and a healthy dose or rye malt.
Served in a pint glass at the brewpub.

Pours a cloudy mdeium amber with a one finger cloudy white head with good retention and lacing down the glass. Citrus and spicy hop aromas of grapefruit and pine mix with a distinctive rye malt aroma. Balanced grapefruit, lemon rind, and pine hop flavors combine for a tasty, almost chewy brew with medium body and carbonation. The rye malt is noticeable in the middle before settling into a grapefruit finish.

An IPA with only nugget hops and some rye malt added to it. Not fully a rye beer though.

Pours a mild/dark brown color with a foamy head that tapers off.

Has a subtle hoppiness with the spicy/sweet aroma of rye on the nose.

Taste is floral with a slow rye kick that shows in the middle. Smooth and balanced. Spicy and like liquid rye bread.

Mouthfeel has that spiciness from the rye with subtle bitterness from the hops.

Very drinkable. Though it clocks in at 90IBUs, you wouldn't be able to tell. A sipping beer that is well worth trying.
