Carrots. Beets. Watermelon radishes.

We added these root vegetables to bring out the earthy character of our base saison yeast by mashing in 125 pounds of each. The resulting beer is fit for a Schrute, a dry, earthy, and spicy saison with a touch of berry and hints of root vegetables on the finish.

Pours a nice reddish color. Somewhat murky, and not too clear. There's a nice 2 finger red head. Frothy, and decent lasting. Nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is very interesting. It's funky, and a nice, well, beet aroma.
Taste - Beets. Earthy beets. Funky, and that beet flavor lingers in my throat like crazy.
The body is decent, though a bit lighter than I was expecting.
It's a well constructed beer. The only problem for me is I'm just not a fan of beets. If you are, I'd say you'd like this beer.

Poured from crowler into glass. Fill date marked as '12/6(2018)'.
Cloudy, cherry (or beet) red colored body. Frothy, fizzy pinkish white head, quickly settles back to skiff and ring. Some small spots of lacing are left behind.
Aroma is funky horse blanket at the base, with an earthy vegetable smell and a whiff of berry.
Taste is led by the earthy vegetables (definitely from the beets) and underpinned by the saison yeast funk. Like the smell, there is a hint of berry.
Medium mouth feel. Good carbonation.
This is a beer that will have a limited appeal to the wider tasting audience. The appearance is similar to a tart cherry sour, but the smell and taste are way out there in the root vegetable garden. I guess this approach does compliment the earthy and funky saison yeast. As I drink through the crowler the slight hint of berry does provide a bit of contrast and relief from the root vegetables. Not a bad beer, but really different.
Pairs well with earthy, slight sour cheese and tart fruit such as a tangerine.
