Served from the can in a Mickey Finn's shaker pint glass.

Diving into a new brewery, seeing what's up: This stuff pours a murky orange juice topped by a half-finger at best of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises apricot pulp, light vanilla, a touch of orange zest, and a slight twinge of honey. The taste leans in on the peach and apricot bits, both with a touch of mild tartness, everything backed up with a milk sugar backbone. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, a tasty little peach/apricot smoothie sour, a flavor focus you unfortunately don't see too much of these days.

Thanks, Sam!

Got another great haul from Sam. Untappd description read “Smoothie-style sour ale with peach, apricot, passionfruit and milk sugar.”

Poured a hazy pale-yellow color with two fingers of fizzy off-white head, which dissipated immediately. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled peach, apricot, nectarine, stone fruit, guava and red apple. Not as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted sugary peach, peach puree, peach fruit on the bottom yogurt, apricot, nectarine, stone fruit, red apple and guava. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)

A really nice sour. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

When does beer become health food? When its made with more pieces and parts of fruit smoothie than it does of traditional ale. Wild Minds doesn't mind bringing a cure for scurvy to their beer portfolio as their Sour Smoothie is cram packed with peach, apricot, passionfruit and milk sugars.

Pouring a turbid and matte lemon meringue appearance, a scantly headed froth fades into a mouthwatering display of citrus, tropical and stone fruit that teases the nose with promises of sherbet, cream and tang. Sweet on the tongue, the first flavor impressions are creamy and sugary with suggestions of cereal, agave, sweet cream, taffy and honey.

Soon after, its the fruits that shine with those island cocktail drink flavors of passionfruit, peach and apricot. But a background of orange, mango, lime, lemon, apple and grape all seem to support the fruit additions while a souring balance of cider and wine give a much needed offset to the sweetness.

Full bodied for sour ale, the rich, creamy and plush mouthfeel is somewhat marshmallowy with a spicy sourness to close. A medium length aftertaste is that of fruit juice concentrate, still in the tube. Tripping Hazard may be a far departure of what traditional beer is prescribed to be, but what's not debatable is that this drink is delicious!
