Draught 8oz snifter at Wet City in Baltimore. Should have heeded the warning in the only review of this ale - and tried something else. Lesson learned.

Pours a pitch black coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is quite sweet, floral and perfumey upon pouring, with underlying notes of roasted malt and chocolate, which are almost drowned out by the perfumey sweetness. This gets better as the beer sits in the glass though, the malt and chocolate coming out more. This continues in the taste, which is quite sweet, floral and perfumey up front, but with notes of roasted, caramel malt, chocolate, coffee and tobacco. Finishes with a dry, medium bitterness and light booziness. Smooth, creamy moutfeel with a medium body and low carbonation.
This feels quite overhopped and poorly balanced, with an unpleasant floral, perfumey, overly sweet and slightly boozy character that overshadows the roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes. I found it difficult to finish the whole bomber.
