Poured a beautiful transparent amber color with active carbonation bringing life to the appearance. The 2 cm head was bone white and a nice looking topper.
The nose was good, definitely an IPA but more of a mid west aroma; not "juicy" like east coast or piney like west coast (Which this claims to be) so while pleasant enough, it didn't match the expectation.
The flavor follows; good enough IPA, but nothing west coast about it. I looked it up on their web site and they state it's an APA; okay, that I'd believe. But that's not what they say it is.
The feel was great, the carbonation gave it some snap that was missing from the lack of expected bitterness.
OA, This seems to drink below it's 8% ABV, and it, IMO, doesn't ring true as a WC DIPA so it's not ranked as highly as if it were say, sold as an Canadian version of the midwest IPA. CIPA?
