Dark magic just got a citrus twist. This special variant of our Double Barrel Black Mage is aged in bourbon and maple bourbon barrels, then finished with a touch of orange peel. Deep roasted malts, dark chocolate, and vanilla from the barrels mingle with bright bursts of orange zest, adding a spellbinding layer of citrus to the rich, boozy base. Bold, decadent, and dangerously smooth - it's like an old fashioned conjured by a sorcerer. One sip, and you're under its spell.

On draught at the brewery, a very dark pour into a snifter with a decent light tan head that faded into a ring of foam. The lacing is light and random.
Aroma is of dark caramel barley malt, molasses, a little earthy.
The flavor is outstanding, caramelized barley malt, molasses, toffee, chocolate nibs, a hint of dark roasted freshly ground coffee, notes of black pepper, Also dried fruit, raisins, orange zest, bourbon and vanilla.
The finish is semisweet, chocolatey, roasted smooth and creamy with a pleasant bourbon taste and orange tangy bitterness.
A substantial bodied brew with a touch of bourbon flavor to complement the booziness, and nice smooth mouthfeel.
