A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a hazy, brownish/amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of mango, light citrus. Taste is peppers. There are notes of mango and alcohol, but the taste is hot pepper. It doesn't burn in the mouth, but going down the throat is another story. Feels medium/full bodied and hot in the mouth and overall is a unique and pretty good beer.

It is the ocCANsion of New Beer Sunday (Week 682) & I am CANducting a brewery horizontal of Tattered Flag Brewery in advance of my planned visit on W, 28 March 2018. Viva The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "Raise a Flag * Craft Beer"; "Triple India Pale Ale"; "Ale Made with Mangos & Ghost Peppers"; "A delicate balance of sweet and heat. Nothing overpowers, giving way to a complex and well rounded beer. Raise a Flag and see what it means to catch the Ghost. Please enjoy our craft responsibly! Artwork by Navy veteran Jason Roberts".
I am attempting to be as responsible as possible, evidenced by my Crack! & slow, gentle Glug. Once acCANplished, I performed a vigorous in-glass swirl that raised just under two fingers of dense, foamy, tawny/light-tan head with great retention that left gorgeous, sticky lacing in its wake. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled like a spicy mango! I love mango & have since my first foray in the Pacific Ocean, but we never adulterated it with spices. I just looked at the listed Style: American IPA. Absurd! It is marked as a Triple India Pale Ale, but I am going to submit a Change Request for Herbed/Spiced Ale & proceed as such. It is NOT an AIPA! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste began like a rising aria in an opera, slowly building from a low burn to a shrieking crescendo. Who is screaming like that?!? Oh, it's me. My ears were burning from the inside out & earwax was dripping through the CANals. My nose hairs CANbusted and flames were emanating from my sinuses. My eyes felt like the time that they issued us pepper spray for crowd/riot CANtrol, but first we had to be sprayed with it so that we could testify as to its (supposedly) inhumane effects. If you could take it, then you could spray it. My tongue was lolling out of my mouth, unbidden, on its own program. Back to the taste. It began with a pleasant mango fruitiness underlain with a slight pepperiness, but suddenly & without warning, ignition took place! I CAN't feel my lips. The heat obliterated any semblance of what the base beer may have been. I could barely swallow & yet I refused to expel what I had in my mouth. It burns, it burns! I opened the nearby CANnister of PKP & sprinkled some into my mouth. Blessed relief! Finish was spicy, hot & dry & now, I was ready for a break. Phew.
