Well, it is what it is. Pound 'em back beach beer. Very simple and without anything by way of defect that would make it unpalatable. Very pale clear yellow. Moderate head on pour, but nothing after that. Mild corn sweetness on the nose. Some breadiness. Clean on the palate with just a touch of bitterness followed up by an equally gentle touch of sweetness. Bonus points for being simple and drinkable without striving to be more than it is.

355 mL can from a 4-pack purchased at Superstore; dated Sept 2 2020 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear pale golden colour, producing half a finger of loose, soapy white foam that disintegrates within a minute. A thin collar and filmy cap remain in place, with scant lace production; nothing special to look at. The aroma is clean but extremely subdued, with hints of corny cereal grain sweetness being the only presence of note.
It's a passable light beer - it tastes of gritty grains and slightly corny cereal sweetness throughout, concluding with grain husk at the finish prior to a dry aftertaste. Nothing fancy, but it works just fine for what it is. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels that add a little bit of crispness to this smooth-feeling, extremely drinkable lager. I suspect that many people who buy this four-pack will not have any cans left over by morning.
Final Grade: 3.45, a B-. Ace Hill's Mexican Lager has a tagline on the label: "Premium Simplicity" - and sure it's marketing drivel, but in this particular case it's actually very apt. I reviewed their Dry Hopped Pilsner yesterday, and gave it a significantly higher rating - they're both 4% light lagers, but the truth is that this one is actually considerably more drinkable and refreshing, in spite of its comparative simplicity. Maybe it's more fair to compare this to stuff like Corona or Tecate - in which case, it's a perfectly worthy substitute.

Little lime wedge, it's 10 degrees Celsius outside but I'm convinced I'm on vacation. Enjoy this with fish tacos or nachos.

Pours crystal clear with a white foamy head sitting perfectly on top. The smell and the taste is all biscuity and bready. Not much in the flavour department, as would be expected from a Mexican-style lager. Mexican beers are known as thirst quenchers and this would be no exception. It's a light beer and it only has 100 calories so that would up the overall rating to 3.5 from where I would have put it initially at 3.25.
