Pours a nice rich amber with a thin white head. Got the classic PNW IPA look going, almost red.
Smell has a strong malt component as well as an earthiness and some piney bitterness.
Taste is strong in NW IPA tradition, lots of pine needle and earthy dankness. Malt presence is there to hold it all up and keep it from coming across thin or acrid. Really well balanced
Mouthfeel is great, nice and crisp on the finish.
Overall this is a blessing for anyone jonesing for an old school west coast IPA (I'm talking pre-IBU wars). It's got the earthy piney bitterness front and center with enough malt body to keep it balanced. It's not necessarily a starter beer for everyone but it's a fine drinking IPA
