16oz canned 5/7/20. Opened 12/5/20.
1/4" tan head fades quickly to a ring.
Black.
Fudge and walnuts in the aroma. Faint banana as the beer warms.
Sweet banana, tart...dry nuttiness and dark chocolate. Chocolate syrup/maple syrup and fudge.
Full body, low carbonation - smooth mouthfeel. Very sweet finish.
Good.

A: opaque; very dark brown in color; with a fairly aggressive pour, less than a 1 finger dark brown head that receded quickly to a thick collar; very little lacing;
S: the first couple whiffs were fudge and macadamia nuts; the next couple were dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, and banana;
T: dark fruit and bittersweet chocolate up front; banana comes in at the middle and is dominant by the finish; mild to moderate bittereness at the end;
M: full bodied; light to moderate carbonation; dry finish; ABV is warm, but under control for 12.5%;
O: interesting; perhaps trying to be too much;

16oz can served in a pair of sample glasses (later with added vanilla ice cream). Part of Untappd's Virtual Beer Festival
Pours dark with a flash of head that dies quickly. Little carbonation. Smell is chocolate, a little yeasty.
Taste is a tiny hint of banana, some cherry medicine, sweet, less chocolate than I get from the smell.
Mouthfeel is filmy and thin. Overall, it's not bad, but the cherry medicine flavor I get detracts pretty significantly. My wife got banana and not cherry medicine, and she really liked it, so take that for what it's worth.

Banana is always a tricky endeavor hen it comes to beer. In my experience it either comes off way too sweet and/or you end up with zero fruit flavor. This holds particularly true when it comes to stouts. Banana Macadamia Fudge Cake is a pretty good attempt at using banana and proves to be overall successful. It IS pretty sweet, fair warning, and at 12.5% its definitely a sipper. The macadamia adds a subtle earthiness that helps quell the sweetness from the fruit and, unlike most banana beers, you can actually taste the fruit in this. Good stuff, definitely skews toward dessert.
