Toasted Coconut Milkshake Hefe-WU-Zen

this was my favorite of the beers we had in here, a pretty light and well made basic hefeweizen, but with some nice toasted coconut added. the combination of the fruity tropical banana and spicy yeast with the earthy sweet coconut is amazing, and for how much coconut has worked its way into craft beer over the past couple of years, i am surprised we havent seen it in this style more than we have, it makes perfect sense. sunny and hazy in the glass, this has a great nose of fresh toasted coconut and ripe banana, really nice balance between the two, but it still smells like beer too, wheaty all the way with a little bit of bittering hops there as well, and thats true in the flavor too, for how much coconut and yeast character there is here, there is still a nice well rounded wheat beer underneath it, far from forced or gimmicky, the coconut makes an already solid beer really unique. its summery and highly drinkable, pleasantly sweet through most of it, cerealy and bubbly, and unsuspectingly awesome. if i end up back in this place, this will be the beer i start with. looking forward to another one of these for sure. great use of the coconut in a style that basically begs for it!
