16oz can, review from notes

Drank out of the can so can't comment on looks, smells like pine and pine tar and caramel malt. The taste is much the same, a solidly beefed up old school IPA, not really that similar to saga except for the yeast

1 PINT can
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours amber with burnt orange highlights and a slight haze. It is capped with a couple inches of creamy, beige head that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is a balance of citrus and toasted malt.

The taste begins with citrus flavors. Then the malt comes in with toast and a little caramel. The finish is resiny but not overly so.

Medium mouthfeel. Creamy

This is a solid DIPA and a change of pace from the barrage of NE IPAs. It is well balanced and easy enough to drink for the abv.

Poured from a 16oz can. Amber color with white piles of head, which rapidly dissipate. Moderate lacing. Subdued tropical aroma. Very well balanced taste of hops and malt. Hides its 8.5% ABV well. Pleasant mouth feel. A mature approach to a DIPA which does not emphasize one aspect over another, but expresses a balance that reflects Summit's approach to brewing. A DIPA that is totally crushable.

Pours a dense fair amber color. A hoppy citrus aroma catches my nose. Wonderfully malty and hop flavored beer with hints of tropical fruit. Gently carbonated with a touch of head.

= Summit has created a fantastic DIPA to commemorate their 30th. Great blend of citrus, malt, and hops.

S: citrus, tropical fruit aroma with a light touch of grass and traces of light toast in the background.

L: brilliant amber gold. Streams of fine bibles rapidly rise to the surface to join with a 3" mousse-like light cream colored foam cap with good retention.

T: toasty malt seasoned by tropical fruit and citrus and follows up with a pleasant, yet assertive hop bitterness. The bitterness is a mild citrus rind and is not harsh. While initially slightly sweet it finishes crisp and dry. Although Summit Double IPA leans to the hops, it is well balanced by the malt.

F: The beer is medium bodied and has a very fine, soft carbonation.

this is unique among bigger ipas in that it remains really light, they dont over compensate the high hop additions with a ton of grain, and they dont spike the alcohol out of control with adjuncts like dextrose, they keep it in the drinkable range alcohol, body, bitterness, and residual sugar, and i think that makes a much more enjoyable and sustainable than some of the kitchen sink doubles we see around these days. one of my favorite beers from our visit to their taproom, which is awesome if you havent been! pale golden in color, fully clear, and with a relaxed white head on top. smells like southern hemisphere hops, galaxy or something, with a juicy pineapple aroma to it, a little orange peel essence, and just a pale malt body that warrants no further comment, except to say its fully appropriate here. hops taste only moderately bitter, more of the juicy aspects, some high oils in suspension here, and a wonderful freshness. pineapple and mango if i force the fruit issue, but also just a real clean and crisp vegetal hop thing, really well dosed, and really bright. nice carbonation too, this doesnt linger long. while others may say this is under hopped, not big enough, or whatever, i really appreciate this approach to the style, and think this is better than a lot of the other hoppy beers summit is making. well done on this one!

Honey amber with lots of head and lace.

Smells like bread and pot. A little caramel.

Citrus, herb, bread crusts, and pot on the palate.

Resiny feel.

Overall a very dank ipa. Recommended if you are into that.
