Notes:
With big aromas of stone fruit and toffee, plus a slap shot of spicy hop flavor and assertive bitterness, Summit High Sticke Alt returns from an all-star season in 2017 to run the rink again this year. Cross-checking, throwing elbows, talking trash — the beer just does what needs to be done. Deep copper in color, traces of toast, caramel, and biscuit come from a complex blend of German malts, while a huge hop load and a long period of cold conditioning result in crisp, refreshing drinkability.

12oz can. Stamped dating on can bottom is 'EB 07/04/21'.
Clear, deep amber colored body. Persistent off white head. Leaves behind rings and partial sheets of lacing.
Aroma is faint, but expresses toffee and dates.
Taste is is toasted malts at first and then goes to a piney hops flavor and bitter ending. With a couple of sips the toffee and dates/prunes/apricot come out. Has a rather dry ending.
Fuller mouth feel, with mouth coating. Very good carbonation.
Quite refreshing with its dry finish, but still provides a good bunch of flavors throughout the taste profile - toffee, dark fruit, and bitter pine.

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Clear amber, good head.
Smell: Toffee aroma.
Taste: Toffee to start, bit of dark fruit, mild tea bitterness, nice balanced flavor. Slight citrus in the finish.
Overall: Very pleasantly surprised by this beer! I haven't had too many altbiers so went in open-minded. Nice balanced beer, kind of a brown ale/english pale/hoppy mix of a beer. Nice to have something different (non-IPA) in the mix.

Can I say I'm surprised? In no way did I expect these flavors to come out of a Beer by Summit Brewing. Nothing against the brewery in general but generally they are lower quality craft beers that tend to be mass-produced. But this one is delicious. A really balanced flavor profile with caramel biscuit and hoppy goodness. Has the aftertaste of an IPA but not so Piney or bitter. I would drink this beer all day long.

A pretty, dark amber pour with a tight head, good retention. Undistiguished aroma. Taste gives up malts and a touch of molasses. Very dry, long lingering finish. A rarely brewed beer, but well done compared to other Altbier we have tasted. The ABV is well hidden. Summit has distinguished itself on this one.

Never was a huge fan of the style but this was surprisingly excellent. Most impressive was the extremely complex flavor profile. Very bitter, with notes of nuts, dark bread, and caramel.

12oz bottle from the winter sampler pack
No head (that sticks around, anyway) with a chocolate color and med. translucency. Smell is oats and numbing hop. Taste is buttery hazelnut with emphasis on the butter. Hop flavor is dancing around the edges, more of a slightly bittering presence than a flavor.
Good, but it isn't my style

Great name!
12oz bottle, enjoy by 03/16/18
Thick foamy ivory head slowly fades atop a brown colored body. Very earthy aroma; a bit fruity as it warms. Big malty flavors with herbal earthy hops and yeast; notes of bread crust, grain, peppery spice in the mix as well. Medium body, moderately bitter on the finish. Good example of the style.

Rich grain and dark fruit aroma. Dark brown/ruby with a tall, thick, creamy-appearing head, leaving lots of lacing as it slowly recedes. Good body. Initial taste is malty grain, bread. Hops contribue just a bit of bittering to balance things. The middle flavors are lots of rich bread, grain, a touch roasty. Aftertaste lingers with as slightly bitter and herbal. Without reading the information about this beer, you would never know it was 7.5%... very easy drinking.

Bottle. Khaki head with lace. Copper brown color.
Caramel, toffee, and chocolate. Malty with biscuit and nutty notes. Some of the abv shows. It is a strong alt.
Medium bodied with a smooth feel. I like it, but an alt shouldn't be this strong imo.

i like this one. a lot.
brown. not a lot of head.
grainy and herbal in the nose and mouth. i get a vinous note at the end like concord grapes with a bitter hop finish.
medium body. 7.5% is not obvious, but it's certainly not a thin, weak beer for this time of year.
great stuff.

I bought the Summit Brewery Penalty Box variety pack. I like this new brew a lot. I am not a connoisseur of craft beer, but it tastes a lot like Summit Winter Ale to me with a little more of a kick. Which is OK.

Dark red color with a finger of head. Plenty of lacing left down the glass. Aroma of musty grain, dark fruit, and herbal hops. Flavor of bread, musty grain, light fruitiness, with moderate herbal bitterness. Medium body that thins at the finish. Nice carbonation and easy drinking for the ABV.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Pours a brilliant deep garnet hue with a lush off white head on top. Massive malt character. Grainy, grassy, toasted, and biscuity ... perhaps even a kiss of slight roastiness. Ample hop bitterness is simply there to give balance and its herbal tone compliments throughout. Warming but no fruitiness, clean from start to finish. An exceptional brew to say the least.

L-Deep copper colored
S-A lot of german malt flavor...grainy, biscuity, bready...light dark fruits..
T-Really impressed with the rich maltiness of this...again....biscuits, bread...grains...light dark fruitiness. Hops add just a subtle floral touch..I like how this leans to the malt. I'm not sure if a Sticke Alt is supposed to or not but I like it.
F-Medium bodied...for the ABV it is highly drinkable.
O_Excellent Alt. Love it.
