Summit Slugfest is an unfiltered IPA with an orange appearance, low in alcohol and bitterness but big in citrus hop flavors and aromas. Seeking to connect new American IPA trends with our classical European approach to brewing, Slugfest offers aggressive and powerful citrus hop flavors and aromas of tangerine, melon and lemon, thanks to hop varieties Huell Melon, Azacca and Mandarina Bavaria. Malt notes of toast, English biscuits and breadcrust.

12oz can. Bottom stamp has best by date of 'EB09/14/25'.
Mostly clear, deep gold colored body. Three fingers of foamy head with the pour, but this reduces quickly to a partial cap and higher reaching ring. Leaves behind partial horizontal lacing rings.
Aroma of citrus and melon.
Taste is toasted caramel malts, tangerine, lemon, and melon. Has a bitter bite throughout but not excessive.
Medium mouthfeel. Gets dry at the end. Very good carbonation.
The hop choices bring more of an English sensibility, and the melon is certainly prominent.

Poured from a can. Hazy and orange in color with a large foamy head. Smells of citrus fruits and melon. Flavors of tangerine, orange, biscuit and hints of lemon. Feels lighter than most IPAs, not as bitter. Easy to drink and tastes great.

Floral nose, biscuit malt base, complemented by citrus. Pours a pale amber. Slugfest is a balanced IPA that’s smooth with a nice malt build and less bitterness than expected. Not your typical IPA, which is probably why I like it.

12oz can best by date 12/15/21 into a 7oz tasting glass.
L: Pours a slightly cloudy unfiltered bright amber with a 2" fluffy, rocky off-white head that slowly recedes to edge foam. Good carbonation, some thick spotty lacing.
S: Pine, lemon, malts, light bread, citrus, melon, tangerine.
T: Tangerine, pineapple, lime, pine, light biscuit malt, med-long earthy pine lingering.
F: It has a lightly brisk, soft med-light bodied clean mouthfeel with a gentle hop bite and a med-long finish.
O: This is a well balanced smooth, soft and east drinking juicy IPA that is relatively light overall. Another excellent beer from Summit and it is excellent in it's style.

The first thing that hits me is the variety of hops that they use. Finishes really dry and wants you to take another sip. Definite tangerine in the aroma but it is light. Pours golden with some lacing. It seems like a light cal juicy IPA which is disappointing if that's what they were going for. It's okay but would choose New Belgium Juicy IPA over this every day.

I'm trying this beer at Big Al's pizza place in LaCrosse, WI. It poured a slight hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had fresh fruit flare. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with fruit pizzazz. The mouthful was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

This looks the part for a NEIPA. It comes in at a low ABV, so probably better referred to as a session NEIPA. The aroma is inviting, tropical fruits, candy apple; obviously, I cannot put my finger on it precisely, but inviting. Unfortunately, that's it. The rest of the beer does not support the aroma. It is lackluster in malt flavor and watery in mouthfeel. I've generally liked Summit beers, but this is a miss for me.

12oz can from the variety pack
Unfiltered, orange and IPA-looking. Smells like flowers, earth, and danks. The taste is more citrus, caramel, and pine ...very surreal seeing this listed at under 5% ABV. Drinks and is hopped like a proper 7%'er, the Triumphant Session IPA was very noticeably at 4%, while this retains very enjoyable juicy hop flavor with nothing much undercutting it
For any juiced-out hopheads looking for a decent session brew, this will be great

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium orange color with a strong, bright white, creamy head. SRM of 9-11. (4.00)
Aroma: Light aromas of vague gummy-bear orange citrus. Only traces of ripe pineapple and melon. Very simple. (3.25)
Flavor: Extremely weak on the flavor. Light and faint flavors of orange before it fades into the carbonation which cleans it off to be crisp an dry. (2.75)
Feel: Light and crisp. Strong carbonation to clean off the juice. Finishes completely clean. Sort of like Seltzer water. (3.50)
Overall: Not sure if it's a disappointment or if it's a different style. Drinks more like an IPL, but even weak for that. Faint orange flavors that completely dissolve into the carbonation and gone in an instant. Drinks like seltzer water. Leaves you wanting more flavor. Poor reviews due to the feeble lack of identity. Probably, well definitely, won't be buying again. (Final Rating: 3.07)
