At Summit Brewing Company, we invite our brewers to explore radical flavor combinations, while utilizing traditional brewing techniques to create complex, unique brews. Out latest India Pale Ale – Summit Elderflower IPA – is no exception. An unfiltered, full-bodied IPA, it has light biscuit and bubblegum flavors that are followed with lavender and honeydew notes. Finishing smooth and clean, this beer truly embodies our commitment to creating beers with experimental flavors while utilizing traditional brewing tactics.

Born from our brewer’s desire to try underutilized New Zealand hops and elderflower flavors, Summit Elderflower IPA combines a northwest European flower with south pacific island hops. Low in bitterness and high in flavor, Elderflower IPA is a perfect marriage of northern and southern hemisphere.

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep golden to amber orange color with a moderate off-white head. SRM of 12. (4.00)

Aroma: Moderate aromas of caramel malts, pine notes, and hints of citrus. Finishes with some spiced caramel. Mild, but present. (3.50)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of spiced caramel, pine, and hints of flower. A smooth and spiced caramel malt finish. Subtle, yet malty & smooth. Minimal bitterness. (3.75)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Low carbonation. Full-mouthfeel though, finishes smooth. (3.75)

Compared to Summit EPA 4/5/22: Pours a slightly lighter color. Milder aromas.
Compared to Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA 4/5/22: Pours a slightly lighter color. Similar aromas. Slightly more caramel malt and less pine soap. A lighter body. Surprisingly similar though.

Overall: An interesting IPA that I enjoyed trying. Leans malty. Drinks with some pine, floral notes, and caramel malts. Quite surprisingly similar to an older and less-hopped SN Celebration, only slightly lighter bodied. The malt similar is nearly identical. However, this one is enjoyable.

12oz can enjoy by date 5/27/22 into a pint glass.
L: Pours a chill hazed bright caramel w/a 3/4" off white creamy head, light carbonation, head recedes to edge foam, almost no lacing.
S: Caramelized malts, slightly floral, herbal, light breadiness.
T: Moderately sweet malts, caramel, lightly herbal, a hint of citrus zest, melon, intense melon rind, a latent bitterness goes wide and lingers. Full flavored & clean tasting.
F: Gently crisp, smooth, medium full-bodied glassy mouth feel w/a medium long moderately drying finish.
O: A very interestingly tasty, succulent & refreshing American IPA with a wonderfully curious lingering bitterness in it's finish. It is lightly intense and is excellent in it's style.

12oz can. Best by date stamped on can bottom is '06/10/21'.
Slightly cloudy, pale amber colored body. Multi finger white head, settles in a few minutes to a bubbly cap. Leaves strings and islands of lacing.
Aroma of toasted malt with a definite floral accent.
Taste is biscuit malts, melon from the hops, and a floral accent. Slightly sweet, with an initial touch of bitterness. Aftertaste is floral sweetness.
Medium mouth feel. Crisp texture. Very good carbonation.
A mellow but quite tasty IPA. Very clean and expressive notes, and not burdened by any muddiness and oversaturation of hops. The end note of sweet melon and floral note is exquisite. Well crafted and brewed. Excels in a subtle expression of well blended flavors.

12oz from the sample pack

Very flowery and delicious. A solid, unique flavor profile coupled with quality ingredients to make my favorite Summit beer I've had in a while

Keep this level of newness, Summit.
If this is an indicator of their new identity as a brewery, then it's good things to come!

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours a deep amber color with little head. Floral notes (unsurprisingly) on the nose; hints of melon on the palate.

This beer is still available in the Summit 2021 Spring Variety Pack that I got at Costco on Feb 22nd. It contains all IPAs. This particular brew is not a all-time favorite or anything, but is a quality product I feel.

I believe in supporting local breweries and Summit is one of them. They are all pretty good at what they do, so I seldom purchase out of area brands unless I find a deal too good to pass up.

Can. Khaki head. Some lace. Orange golden color.

Reminds me a bit of epa, but a bit more of course. Bready/biscuity malts. Orange peel and floral hops. Zesty and citrusy. The elderflower has definitely faded from my first can that I had a month or so ago. I liked it much more then. This one needs to be drank fresh imo.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Clear gold, ok head.

Smell: Maybe some malt? Very low aroma.

Taste: Malty, floral, maybe a bit of berries, with a citrus finish. Balanced, more English IPA-like.

Overall: Last one out of the Summit IPA pack, it's ok, but nothing really stands out. Not super hoppy or fruity (or Elderberry-y), but just a balanced malt-hop beer.

Pours a clear light amber with a large white head. Decent retention and good lacing. Aroma is mild. Some citrus and malt.
Flavor is stronger than the aroma but still mild. Feel is light bodied and only adequately carbonated. Overall not very impressive.

A box exclusive in the Summit Mixed Pack IPA Edition (along with Summit regulars Sága and Slugfest, and Twenty-One, a re-introduced beer that was a box exclusive last year).

Aroma is pleasant, if a bit weak. Floral(as you'd expect from the name) with slight hints of citrus.

Appearance is clear to very slightly hazy golden amber with a low level of rising bubbles below an off-white-light-tan bubbly head with decent retention, leaving a wall of lacing as it recedes. Eventually forming a bubbly cap with thin openings surrounded by the wall of lacing. A very nice looking beer.

Taste is, as the aroma, pleasant and floral, with a decent balancing bitterness that begins in the middle and strengthens a little into the finish and aftertaste (it never becomes a truly bitter beer, however).

Feel is thin to moderate, with a good body on the tongue.

Overall, a well-brewed, good tasting IPA. Easy-drinking and flavorful. While enjoyable, Twenty-one is better.
