The CRUSHER family is expanding! After a successful debut of Cabin Crusher Kölsch-Style Ale with Lime in 2019 and the Summit Cabin Crusher Kölsch-Style Ale with Lemon extension in 2020, we decided to keep the chill going with Summit Lake Crusher Tangerine! Still a Kölsch-style ale, this beer is brewed with tangerine peel, puree and blood orange puree for a bold, sweet orange flavor. Low in alcohol, but high in drinkability, it’s perfect for Lake Country!

12oz can. Best by date stamp on bottom is 'EB 10/14/24'.
Mostly clear, pale gold colored body. Two finger of white head which reduces to a thin cap and ring. Leaves behind partial rings of lacing.
Aroma of bready malt and citrus hops, both which express sweetness.
Taste has a solid bready malt base, which allows the addition of sweet citrus and yeast. Indistinct flavor of tangerine but definitely citrus. Aftertaste reverts to its bready malt base.
Medium mouthfeel. Kind of dry overall. Very good carbonation.
Very good hot weather thirst quencher.

12 oz can EB 08/25/24 into a pokal.
L: SRM 3 Pours straw dull yellow gold with lush steady carbonation, a frothy shiny white pillowy 1.25" head that has excellent retention, medium thick random webby lacing.
S: Citrus, light malts, simple & clean.
T: Tart & lightly sharp tangerine, light zest, a hint of bready malts, light yeast, white grape, it has a slightly dry fruit bread finish and is lightly pale.
F: Lightly bright, juicy, medium light bodied soft feel with a smooth medium-fast moderately drying finish.
O: This is a great tasting beer. The bready malts shine with a little warming. It has a definite crushable feel with a fitting name. The addition of tangerine is very well placed and is balanced with the base beer. It is very good to excellent in its style.

Pours slightly cloudy bright yellow with a thick white head that leaves great lacing. Aroma is faint, but I can make out the tangerine, some biscuit too. Flavor follows the nose but with more authority. Feel is light bodied and well carbonated. Overall, a wonderful summer beer. Bought in a variety pack, will look for this beer on its own.

Aroma is fresh, crisp, and subtly orange (OK, tangerine). I like the subtle approach to these fruit-flavored beers. Nice malt and hops presence as well.
1/2 inch tall white head, thick and creamy, but it fades at a moderate pace, leaving thick lacing just above the retreating head. Color is slightly hazy yellow-gold with vigorous carbonation.
Mouth feel is smooth, on the thin side of moderate, and, surprisingly, no carbonation feel.
The flavor mirrors the aroma. The tangerine (orange) is nicely accenting the bready malts and flowery hops. No bittering anywhere, but even so, this is a crisp summer beer. There is a little sweetness to it, but just a little. I like the subtle approach to the fruit and I like the overall balance of the flavors. I like the crispness and how enjoyable this beer is to drink. To my taste, though, it could use a touch of bittering to offset the sweetness.
Overall, an enjoyable summer beer. But, in the fruit kölsch-style; I still prefer Summit's original Cabin Crusher with Lime.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light, somewhat pale golden color with a bubbling body and large white head. SRM of 6. (4.00)
Aroma: Mild to moderate aroams of pale malts, yeast, and a slight citrus on the end. The orange is mild. Mildly sweet bread malt underneath. (3.75)
Flavor: The flavor follows with more moderate flavors of pale malts, bread malt , and some yeast upfront. The yeast is fruity. It then follows into a slight orange and grapefruit citrus that mixes with the yeast.
Feel: Medium body. Strong carbonation. Finishes fruity, citrusy, and yeasty on the palate. (4.00)
Compared to Bells Oberon 7/5/21: Pours a lighter color with a larger head. Milder aromas. More yeast and citrus. Less candied orange, tangerine, wheat, and sweetness. Lighter and cleaner.
Overall: A nice and accurate description of a Kolsch Ale. A fairly accurate yeast profile. The tangerine isn't overpowering. It drinks more modest with subtle citrus notes. In the end, it still drinks nice and clean. Crushable and drinkable for the summer. This might be the best of the Cabin/Lake Crusher Kolsch series. (Final Rating: 3.79)
