Grower share. My portion was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a ruddy dark amber almost brown color with a thin white foamy cap of a head. Quick dissipation, mild stringy lace. The aroma seems to gravitate towards sweet and grassy tobacco leafy hops. Light vanilla, some toast, touch of earthiness, pillowy maltiness. Ends with some hay/cereal sort of feature. The flavor blended all of the previously mentioned aromas nicely together and pulling in a touch of malted chocolate. Light herbal tones come right before the aftertaste and slide on into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Low carbonation. ABV felt appropriate for what the brewer projected. Mild dryness hits my tongue but seemingly only for balance. Overall, very well done English styled barleywine and perhaps my favorite beer to date by these guys.
