Highlights were the 2023 Darkness, Salute The Monarchs, Proper Pour, and Shiner Oktoberfest. All of the beers drank well and nothing was compromised/dated/infected when consumed at home.

Overall impression: A top shelf beer store with an accessible layout, quick and friendly service, lots of refrigerated craft beer, and several rarities from the U.S. and abroad. Prices were reasonable and the cashier did a great job packing up my order. Would certainly recommend stopping at Mike's if you're beer shopping in Kansas City.

Just off a busy intersection on the cusp of the Westport neighborhood in KC sits a fairly standard looking liquor store building - tin walls and roof with a single row of windows up front. Inside is more standard decor, with white linoleum floors, high metal shelving, and bright fluorescent lights. It's not quite as 'cozy' as the other Mike's location, but it's still quality. Staff is helpful, although I've found the staff at the other two locations to be much more outgoing. For those seeking to-go beer in the Westport neighborhood, this is a great option. Lots of local and regional choices with an emphasis on packs. No fault here, just a solid standard quality wine, beer and liquor store.

Legit beer store..located in the Westport neighborhood of KC....they have the good stuff that's available in the area...expect to find the typical national, regional and importantly loads of the quality local options....friendly and knowledgeable guys behind the counter, growler fill options....fine spot to hit up

 

Passing by, I remembered Mike's in Waldo had a great selection and stopped in. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside they had a solid selection on the shelves. They said hello when I walked in, and offered help on the floor. Ringing up was a breeze too.

Selection was deep on imports, probably 3 dozen Mikkeller, and 8 Fantomes. Lots of stuff from innovative US breweries like Jolly Pumpkin, Stillwater, Prairie, and Grimm. The coolers seemed to have less obscure craft and more of the most popular stuff, craft and macro alike. Noticed some Crane, Defiance, Boulevard, Free State, etc. There was a cooler in the front thay had craft bombers/750s.

Overall it was a good place to find a couple things I didn't see elsewhere. By that token, some things may linger on the shelves here, for better or worse.
