Thanks to Mbgreg for my first Charles Towne Fermentory offering.
No visible canning date.
Pours a very opaque and slightly turbid muted gold. Abundant fluffy white head surges 2 to 3 fingers in height and shows lots of replenishing bubbles. After about a minute it settles down to a thin layer. Retention is limited a few puffs of cloud try to lace but fall back into the liquid.
The nose abounds with citrus and pineapple and in the background notes of strawberry and blueberry maybe a hint of grapefruit. A little bit of wet hay comes in as well. A nice grain note comes in reminds me of multi grain bread dough.
Flavor comes off as more forward with the grapefruit and the orange coming in before allowing hints of the pineapple and berry notes. What starts off as a little bit juicy soon goes a bit earthy and herbal, finally ending on a slightly bitter note.
Mouth feel is a bit prickly, decent weight for a APA, Yet finish is a little thin. Carbonation is pretty active on this one.
Overall this one seems to have what I hope for when looking at the individual components, however they don’t quite come together in a cohesive way. It’s pretty good but just doesn’t quite meld.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
