16oz. Can into a Fuzzy pint.

Pours with a 2 finger, foamy, cream colored head. Beer is a clear mahogany. Thin legs. Nose is walnut shell, brown sugar, sweet cream, and coarse nuttiness. Very aromatic, delicate, and sweet. Beer opens logan fruit, brown sugar, and a light roasted malt tartness. Some hazelnut and walnut in the middle. Light sugar in the finish and aftertaste. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively on the palate and goes down dry with a lingering, crispy aftertaste.

The peripherals here are better than the taste. But the flavor is certainly there.

(0.5l pour into a tall lager glass at the brewery on 19 Sep at 5p... review copied from notes taken on my phone)

Great lumpy foam crest... toast, brown sugar, and earthy hop on the nose... palate: dry with little malt depth or roundness, no residual sugars in aftertaste, just toast layers and a static ghostly sickle or field-grassy hop... slight herbal cola thing as it goes?... again, like their others I've tried, good not great; not bland, though anything but not moreish

what I can add from memory: I would've rather have had this in a Tubinger mug, though I'm not convinced there would've been much difference... my attention was just barely on the thing the whole time; nothing grabbed me... on a positive note, I learned what an Ike Turner is; ISO (2028)

At the tap room, served in a large willibecher, dark brown with an impressive 1 1/2 finger head, great retention, some nice lacing. Nose has just a touch of spice, but mainly bready malts with a little chocolate. Taste follows pretty much exactly, though I don't get any of the spice, which is a little disappointing. Not too sweet, and the style permits it but I like it better this way. I do get just a hint of yeast, which is appreciated. Mouthful is very nice, and even a little chewy, which speaks to the great and full body, even though it's not heavy. Finishes very clean. This is a really great beer...it is really clean and straightforward -- and maybe lacks some "interesting" or quirky characteristics -- but it is constructed almost perfectly.

L: Pours a mahogany brown with a large off white head that settles to a thin ring quickly.

S: Caramel, dark bread

T: Follows the nose. Very malt forward and true to style. Notes of dark bread and caramel with a touch of chocolate.

F: Light, crisp, easy to drink

O: Not my favorite style, but I can tell this is well executed

Light brown color and clear. Impressive starting head but it settles to film. Some lacing.

I get a stinky grease trap smell that completely ruins the smell. It's very distracting at best, and makes me want to dump this beer, at worst. I don't pick up any redeeming or typical scents.

The taste is a dramatic improvement. I get a lot of biscuit and some cinnamon. In short, nearly all malt. This creates a shorter aftertaste. The body is as expected with an elevated carbonation. Caramel finish.

16oz tall boy can poured into dimpled mug. canned on 2/11/22.

Appearance: mahogany brown body with red hue. Off white head pours thick and tall. Head drops down to no head at all.

Smell: toasty grain and dark bread crusts. Nuances of sweet caramel and dried dark fruit. Very nice malt profile. Light spicy hops in the finish.

Taste: similar to the aroma/smell- toasty grain, nutty, and dark bread crusts / pumpernickel bread. Very nice malt profile. Light spicy hops. Sturdy malty beer without being too heavy.

Mouthfeel: low end of medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation levels. pretty drinkable Dunkel.

Overall: Second Bierstadt beer. Another great one. There are other Dunkels from Chicagoland lager scene that are better, but this one is also well made.

Had on tap. This is so good it is stupid. Clear dark amber brown pour with plenty of cream colored foam and lacing. Toasted caramel, german yeast, dark fruit, crusty bread and cocoa dusting with a kiss of phenols. Taste has the german yeast be playful, lifting up the malt's toasted caramel, nuts, and dark fruits, again phenols, crusty bread and a pinch of dry earth deepen the complexity. Feel is malty with deep smoothness, yeast elevates the finish with good carb to help, soft, full and lush. I had another immediately
