A relic of the post-Civil War era, this beer has a light body and flavor while remaining very dark in color with strong earthy tones. Containing not less than 35% corn for the base, just like your father’s jokes!

I had this beer on-tap in a pub glass at the brewery. There’s no Kentucky Common category here on BA, so cream ale seemed like the best style fit.
Appearance: medium brown hue with a dash of haze and a thin layer of ivory foam atop.
Smell: quite sweet with a bit of corn and a bit of yeastiness. Can’t say as I love it, but it’s probably reasonable to the style.
Taste: sweet and malty with a definite corny flavor and an almost sharp element. Bitterness is on the high side. Not exactly to my taste, but seems about right for the style.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: you definitely don’t see this style around much these-a-days! A decent beer, but extra points just for brewing such an uncommon style.
