Can't seem to find a bottling date, but I know this beer was bottled around early fall of last year. I really like what Barebottle has been doing, so I am excited to try this wet-hop IPA by them.
L: Pours a burnt orange/amber color. Transparent appearance with complete clarity. From a very slow pour, a 2 finger of a dense and frothy white cap amounted rapidly. The glass is littered with lacing, making me salivate at the look of the beer.
S: Really unique smell. Smells more like a pilsner than an IPA. Tons of wheat and malt complexity with notes of black pepper and lemon. Slightly tart and crackery on the nose as well. Nice smelling but not great.
T: Again, not what I was expecting but not 'bad' by any means. Initially, I taste flavors of mango, apricot and mango, but at the flavor develops, the citrus and malts becomes more dominant. It is sweet tasting and very malt forward.
F: Light in body and light to medium in weight. Moderate amounts of carbonation for the style.
O: Overall, I think it is a tasty beer that falls into the "good" category. It is on the lower side of good but not great. At 6.6 abv, I think it is very enjoyable. I am grateful to have tried. Cheers!
