L: Very very fizzy on the pour, nice thick head, two finger breath, impressive tenacious lace (it just sticks to the glass), dark straw hazy NE IPA.
S: Subtle sweet scent of freshly squeezed tangerines, papaya and honeydew melons.
T: Strong taste of fresh ripe papaya. It’s that first bite serving of papaya. The top fragrant layer that was near the seeds, the sweet meaty section, and that slightly green and bitter section closes to the rind. Very juicy, very little bitterness.
F: Medium-heavy bodied mouthfeel, coats the tastebuds and hangs on, you won’t appreciate the mouthfeel until you take a sip of water. There is a almost a sticky sugary residue on the corners of your lip after your drink this.
O: Like it’s name (Gold Struck) they tired to score high on ALL categories, overall a very well executed NE IPA. My only comment, for all that fizziness, it lacked aroma. The beauty in this beer is it’s overall balanced execution. No single category is exceptional, but they nailed all the categories. Interesting, they used sugared papaya to attain the taste and mouthfeel. A good experience and high marks for brewing execution.
