Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a one finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of piney and citrus hops, orange, tangerine, pine and red berries. Flavor is pale malt, dank, citrus and fruity hops, grapefruit, red berries, muddled tropical fruit and some dankness. Moderately bitter in the finish with a lingering dankness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An unusual hop bill for a declared West Coast style IPA. Although the aroma had citrus and pine, both were secondary in the taste, which was more berry, dank and ripe tropical fruit. Although not very hazy at all, this had more of the profile of a NE hazy IPA to my taste, although there was a satisfactory bitterness, fortunately. Flavor starts dank, then thins out a bit, but finishes with fruit and dankness. I was intrigued by the flavor and looked up the hops used; oddly they were all more associated with NE and Southern Hemisphere IPAs than West Coast citrus and piney ones. The hop flavors were interesting enough and enjoyed this for a change, but not what I expected.
