Picked up a four pack of pint cans. No date on cans. Neat that they provide the full brewers recipe on the can, though!
Pours slightly hazy and golden in color with a finger thick frothy head atop with decent retention and plenty of lacing as you drink. Carbonation seems average with medium sized bubbles rising up. Looks refreshing.
Quite fresh and aromatic. Very fruity, floral, earthy and dank with notes of melon, papaya, citrus and pine. Just a hint of bready, crackery malt in the background.
Taste follows the nose well. Citrus and pine up front with some melon towards the swallow, finishing with a lingering lemon zest and pine on the tongue. A very subtle malt profile provides just a touch of balance. I'd say it's a bit one dimensional, after all it's essentially all Citra.
This drinks on the lighter side of medium bodied with just a hint of chewiness and zesty carbonation. Quite smooth and crisp with a semi-dry finish. Not a palate wrecker, but there are some lingering hop oils after the swallow. A touch too carbonated for my liking, though I could see that being refreshing for others.
A quality brew, no doubt. I think I'm just bored of Citra. It's never been my favorite hop, and it's become quite popular. This feels like a decent showcase for it, so if you're into Citra you'll definitely want to pick up some of this. That said, it's perfectly drinkable, though I wouldn't seek it out again myself. Cheers!
