Brotherton Imperial Oatmeal porter infuses exceptional smoothness and richness into a traditional Porter. Heavy-handed oat additions to the grist create velvety richness and beautiful subtle sweetness in the malt character of this beer. Smooth, deep, rich with notes of roasted chocolate, complex toasted malts with a slight dark fruit character in the finish.

Brotherton Brewing Co. "Imperial Oatmeal Porter"
on tap at the Pic-A-Lilli Inn, Shamong, NJ

Notes: Black body beneath a short head of tan foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate and cold black coffee. The flavor brings in some additional midrange caramel, nuttiness, and a hint of dark fruit. A median bitterness balances it and it finishes dry with an ashen roastiness that lingers. Medium bodied and gently crisp.

Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is oats and grain. Taste is mild roasted malts and a touch of chocolate and caramel. Feel is very nice, smooth and clean. Overall it's an easy drinking porter without any porter bitterness.

(on tap at The Local, Mt Holly... served in a fat tulip glass)

Dark, reddish-brown liquid; does have a thick fluffy pad of foam - at least in the glass of the guy near me who also got it - my glass was a bit dirty, head sizzled out on pour... softly roasty, semi-sweet molasses aromas on the nose; little discernible alcohol... on the palate - smooth roast, light molasses, coffee liqueur; hint of raisin at the back, alcohol likely enhancing the dark-order crystal malt sweetness... softly slick, lightly oily texture; tight malt layers; clean... good at first, but soon starts to taste like homebrew, dark malt/grain additions not colored or complimented by yeast/base malt flavors

On tap at Verona Inn in Verona. Pours a jet black ebony hue with moderate frothing. Assertive aroma replete with hints of chocolate and mocha. Similar overall flavor profile.

On tap.

A - Dark brown pour with a thin toffee colored lacing ring.

S - Coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, dark roasted malt.

T - Dark roasted malt, light alcohol, light smoke, cream, ends with a long lingering coffee/pine bitterness.

M - Medium body.

O - Enjoyed but would prefer more body on this big beer.

On tap, pours deep and dark, letting little light through. Small tan head doesn't stick around.

Smell is huge and complex, with toffee, dark fruits and chocolate. Taste follows, with a touch of sweetness in balance with bitter coffee notes.

Feel is a slightly thin medium. Or maybe it's just the huge nose and flavor set me up for the thickness of an imperial stout.

A really excellent and well-made beer.

Poured from a growler that was filled yesterday

A: Dark like good molasses, doesn't let any light through it. The head is a fluffy light tan that shrinks to a thin foam. Plenty of lacing
S: Roasty malts, raisin cocoa
T: Dark chocolate light coffee, hazelnuts and raisins. The roasted malt is always in the background. As it warms there are hints of tobacco and licorice
MF: Exquisite. Smooth feel that coats the mouth. Thick and chewy. The array of flavors linger.
O: This is a porter for the Porter lover. Checks off all the boxes. I could drink this every cool evening and be happy. Makes me consider going back to cigars.
