Fresh for your Valentine's Day 2016, we're happy to introduce a beer inspired by one of the greatest love stories ever told:

Bluer Than Velvet— a stout so rich and deep you'll think you're in a dream, gazing into your true-love's eyes! This velvety, ink-black Imperial Stout was brewed with a heavy dose of Lactose and finished voyeuristically with Mosaic hops. It then fermented atop 150lbs of local NJ blueberries and aromatic Madagascar vanilla beans. Deep notes of roasted dark chocolate, earthy berry-fruit, and finishes with a present but soft bitterness.

Close your eyes and drift away into the magic night. Share this together, like dreamers do!

Almost black stout. Looks viscous. Smell is toasty and deep. A rich, flavor packed stout with complexity. Much of the dark roasted grain is balanced perfectly with tangy fruit hints, and a delicate sweetness. The soft feel feels the situation. This is a truly delicious beer.

I had this on draught at a restaurant. 16 oz. pour into a Brotherton pint glass. It pours a deep walnut color with one finger of foamy, mocha-colored head and lacing. It's a very attractive pour. There is blueberry on the nose, along with roasted malt, cocoa, and freshly-brewed coffee. This is an interesting and very tasty stout: It opens with some nice blueberry that is sweet but not cloying, followed by rich chocolate and coffee. As the glass warms, the blueberry becomes more prevalent. It features a creamy, almost chewy mouth feel with moderate carbonation, and the 9.6% ABV gives it nice substance. The alcohol isn't obvious but by the end of the pint you can surely feel it. Overall, this is a first rate Imperial Stout. The blueberry makes it special but the chocolate and coffee seal the deal! It is well-crafted and fun to drink. Brotherton is a relatively new brewery and this stout is quite an achievement. The sky's the limit!
