This on-tap brew is similar in looks and flavor to Sierra Nevada Glissade. I had the Strong Bock at J&R Steakhouse in Islip, NY, where they seem to regularly have FOUR Hofbräu offerings on tap - lager, wheat, dark, and this one. That's a rare sight on Long Island. Anyway, I have to give credit to the appearance, because this is a stronger beer than its bright golden looks might lead you to believe. Good, malty aroma. The taste follows with similar malty sweetness, integrated by the hops and high alcohol content. This is the furthest thing from bland - big flavor that demands your attention. Thumbs up.

Growler fill from Decicco's in Ardsley NY. $6.99 for a 32 ouncer.

Pours near clear golden amber, the head show some moderate retention of the off white fluffy head, that leaves near ample fine lacing.

Faint floral and slightly sweet nose.

Delicate and tasty lager, some sweet lighter malts, honey, light vanilla and again flowery sweetness. Some light lime and gin in the pleasantly sweet finish.

8.5% no where to be found on the palate, but def. felt after 2 or 3 glasses...well done, quite tasty and well grafted offering from one of Germany's heavy hitters.

(From notes)

A - Very nice light golden hues, and poured with a frothy white head. Good head retention in the sample.

S - Maltiness dominated the aroma, but there is a touch of booziness that sneaks in. Just a tad of hop bitterness as well

T - Sweet maltiness that dominates, but has some nice breadiness and fruitiness.

M - Denser than the appearance suggests, but the body definitely supports the flavors and high abv very well. Sits well on the palate

D - Deceptively drinkable given the abv and overall delivery of the brew. Very warming, but at the same time very quaffable and refreshing.

Overall, this was very good stuff, and even though it was a bit boozy for me, was still interesting.

Enjoyed on tap at Brother Tuckers in Pompano Beach FLA
A - Golden yellow with fluffy white off white head that stays pretty lofty.
S - Slightly fruity up front, toasted malt, earthy grains, touch bitter at end. Very nice.
T - Sweet malt a bit of an alcohol kick.
M/F - Light/ Medium body bright carbonation
D - Great helles bock. The best from Hofbrau that I've had to date.

This fine brew to me is a litle bit of heaven in a glass
The beer has a golden yellow to copper color.
The foam sticks to the glass all the way down.
It has a fine hop aroma to the nose (not over powering)
It has a warm mellow alcohol bite to it, not too much just enough to keep your respect.
This is a fine German beer they way it should be

PROST!!!!

(Served in a tall Chalice)

A- This beer has a coppery-yellow crystal clear body with a gentle carbonation of tiny bubbles supporting a thin ring of pure white foam. The foam sticks to the glass with each sip quickly sliding back into the beer.

S- The clean smell has hints of sulfur and pale malt with a light raw grain note as the beer warms. There is a noble hop smell only after the beer warms quite a bit.

T- This beer has a soft pleasant Kolshy sweet sulfur hint with some soft dry caramel malt notes and a pale malt note. There is a dry noble hop finish that is very strong on bitterness and lighter on flavor.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a very slight watery texture and a tight clean fizzy finish. There is no alcohol heat noticed until the last few sips.

D- This beer has some nice malt flavors and the Kolsh notes of sweet sulfur are nice but the dryness and pure bitterness of the hops seems to really dominate to much over the rest of the beer.
